MAPA-C Goes NT After several months of effort, the MAPA-C
Development Team (MDT) has rewritten the MAPA-C system to operate within
a Windows NT environment. Actually, the application will operate under
any Operating System which supports the Win32 interface. This includes
the Win 95/98 as well as NT 4.0. Windows 2000 testing will begin
shortly.
The hope is reduce system installation costs and
maintenance costs by allowing the system to operate on existing computer
equipment. Discussions are underway with the IT-21 community (SPAWAR) to
validate operation under the DII COE which is required by their command.
Tasks remaining to complete this effort and start distribution
include:
Update the users manuals and installation instructions
Extensive testing of the software to assure bullet proof operation
DII COE testing ( for IT-21 compatibility)
Update databases for current NALCs
MAPA-C ONLINE After years of providing updates and support via
personal visits to each ship, the MAPA-C development teams is putting
the finishing touches on the MAPA-C web page. From this page users will
be able to download software and database updates, inform the
development team of any problems or issues, and get the latest manuals
and tech tips. The hope is that this will provide users with quicker
response to questions and problems while reducing the need for frequent
ship visits.
The biggest concern, from the view of the development staff, is the
need for feedback from the system users. It is hoped that users will
continue to provide input on any issues and problems.
